Now details: We are first time home buyers and had little knowledge about real estate. We were matched with Marian through Better Mortgage. It was very pleasant experience viewing houses with Marian. We only viewed two houses with her, and we found the house we really like. She was very patient at explaining all the details of offer making with us and helped us make a strong offer which was eventually accepted. Before Marian, we viewed some houses with a different agent. Either due to his lack of knowledge or patience, he wouldn’t explain to me the difference between a closing credit vs a price reduction despite of my consistent inquiry. In comparison, Marian is much more knowledgable and never tired of going into the details to make sure that we fully understand what we want to know. She also went above and beyond and helped us with estimating what we should offer/counter-offer after the house inspection. During the whole process, we ran into several issues with Better Mortgage, the biggest one was that they grossly mis-estimated the closing cost, and only gave me the actual closing cost the night before the closing date (on had calculation errors on top of that). And I couldn’t reach them because they sent that to me before their office closes. Typically, this would freak me out, but I stayed calm because Marian’s resourcefulness and experience through the process have convinced me that if I cannot figure something out, I can always rely on Marian to help me out and resolve the issue. I ended up resolving the issue by talking to their closing lead in the west coast office. Even though Marian didn’t help me directly in this particular case, knowing that we can rely on her helped me to stay composed and made me realize how valuable it is to have someone as experienced and knowledgable as Marian is to have your back. I seriously doubt that we would resolve this issue had we gone with the other agent (since this issue actually relates to the difference between a closing credit and a price reduction). I would highly recommend Marian as a real estate agent, and having a great agent like her truly makes a huge difference in this whole process of buying a house as first-time home buyers.
